Requiem

Requiem

Original Text
Robert F. Murray: his Poems, with a memoir by Andrew Lang (London: Longmans, Green, 1894): 89. PR 5101 M5A6 1894 Robarts Library
1For thee the birds shall never sing again,
2    Nor fresh green leaves come out upon the tree,
3The brook shall no more murmur the refrain
4        For thee.
5Thou liest underneath the windswept lea,
6    Thou dreamest not of pleasure or of pain,
7Thou dreadest no to-morrow that shall be.
8Deep rest is thine, unbroken by the rain,
9    Ay, or the thunder. Brother, canst thou see
10The tears that night and morning fall in vain
11        For thee?
