Brenda Carbosier has hairy nostrils (#12)

Brenda Carbosier has hairy nostrils (#12)

Original Text

Wendy Agnew, "#12,"The Lillian Lectures (Toronto: Coach House Books, 1998).

Brenda Carbosier has hairy nostrils
so the nose fairies
could cluster in there
and keep warm
waiting for her to eat
her pumpkin pie
She has the best food
And then at night
they'd lower themselves down
and eat the crumbs off her lips.
Tonight
let's put some gravy in your nose
for the nose fairies
Then they'll make sure
the operation
goes OK
