Dirce
Original Text:
Walter Savage Landor, Gebir, Count Julian (1831).
2 With Dirce in one boat conveyed!
3Or Charon, seeing, may forget
4 That he is old and she a shade.
Notes
1] Dirce was put to death by the sons of Antiope, in revenge for her ill-treatment of their mother. Charon is the ferryman who carries the dead across the river Styx to Hades. Back to Line
