Sister, Awake! Close not Your Eyes

Sister, Awake! Close not Your Eyes

Original Text
Thomas Bateson, Cantus. The first set of English madrigales (London: T. Este, 1604). Short-title Catalog 1586.
1  Sister, awake! close not your eyes,
2    The day her light discloses;
3And the bright morning doth arise
4    Out of her bed of roses.
5  See the clear sun, the world's bright eye,
6    In at our window peeping;
7Lo, how he blusheth to espy
8    Us idle wenches sleeping!
9  Therefore awake, make haste I say,
10    And let us without staying
11All in our gowns of green so gay
12    Into the park a maying.
