Praise, my Soul, the King of Heaven (Psalm 103)

Praise, my Soul, the King of Heaven (Psalm 103)

Original Text
The poetical works of the Rev. H.F. Lyte, M.A., ed. John Appleyard (London: E. Stock, 1907): 293-94. PR 4897 L6 A17 1907 Victoria College (Emmanuel)
2To His feet Thy tribute bring!
3Ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven,
4Who like me His praise should sing?
5Praise Him! praise Him!
6Praise the everlasting King!
7Praise Him for His grace and favour,
8To our fathers in distress!
9Praise Him still the same for ever,
10Slow to chide, and swift to bless!
11Praise Him! praise Him!
12Glorious in His faithfulness!
13Father-like, He tends and spares us;
14Well our feeble frame He knows.
15In His hands He gently bears us,
16Rescues us from all our foes,
17Praise Him! praise Him!
18Widely as His mercy flows!
19Frail as summer's flower we flourish:
20Blows the wind, and it is gone.
21But while mortals rise and perish,
22God endures unchanging on.
23Praise Him, Praise Him,
24Praise the high eternal One!
25Angels, help us to adore Him;
26Ye behold Him face to face:
27Sun and moon, bow down before Him;
28Dwellers all in time and space,
29Praise Him! praise Him!
30Praise with us the God of grace!

Notes

1]
Blesse the Lord, O my soule: and all that is within me, blesse his holy Name.
Blesse the Lord, O my soule: & forget not all his benefits.
Who forgiueth all thine iniquities: who healeth all thy diseases.
Who redeemeth thy life from destruction: who crowneth thee with louing kindnesse and tender mercies.
Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things: so that thy youth is renewed like the Eagles.
The Lord executeth righteousnesse: and iudgement for all that are oppressed.
He made knowen his wayes vnto Moses: his actes vnto the children of Israel.
The Lord is mercifull and gracious: slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. Hee will not alwayes chide: neither will he keepe his anger for euer.
Hee hath not dealt with vs after our sinnes: nor rewarded vs according to our iniquities.
For as the heauen is high aboue the earth: so great is his mercy toward them that feare him.
As farre as the East is from the West: so farre hath hee remooued our transgressions from vs.
Like as a father pitieth his children: so the Lord pitieth them that feare him.
For he knoweth our frame: hee remembreth that we are dust.
As for man, his dayes are as grasse: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.
For the winde passeth ouer it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.
But the mercy of the Lord is from euerlasting to euerlasting vpon them that feare him: and his righteousnesse vnto childrens children:
To such as keepe his couenant: and to those that remember his commandements to doe them.
The Lord hath prepared his throne in the heauens: and his kingdome ruleth ouer all.
Blesse the Lord yee his Angels, that excell in strength, that do his commandements: hearkening vnto the voice of his word.
Blesse ye the Lord all yee his hostes: ye ministers of his that doe his pleasure.
Blesse the Lord all his works in all places of his dominion: blesse the Lord, O my soule.
