Omnivore

Omnivore

Original Text

James Arthur. Charms Against Lightning. Port Townsend, Washington: Copper Canyon Press. 2012

1I eat what's put in front of me,
2as all great men do. Should you eat shark? I know
3some wouldn't, but I do, if it's there.
4Scorpions too, and their stingers; swallowing a scorpion
5won't poison you. Old-time glue-makers
6made glue of old horses, and I
7make use when I can.
8Someone put his wife in front of me; someone else,
9his mediocrity. What I know, I swear by—
10feed yourself, or die.
