My Star
My Star
Original Text
Robert Browning, Men and Women, 2 vols. (1855.) Rev. 1863.
1 All that I know
2 Of a certain star,
3 Is, it can throw
4 (Like the angled spar)
5 Now a dart of red,
6 Now a dart of blue,
7 Till my friends have said
8 They would fain see, too,
9My star that dartles the red and the blue!
10Then it stops like a bird; like a flower, hangs furled:
11 They must solace themselves with the Saturn above it.
12What matter to me if their star is a world?
13 Mine has opened its soul to me; therefore I love it.
