Love in Thy Youth, Fair Maid; Be Wise
Love in Thy Youth, Fair Maid; Be Wise
Original Text
Walter Porter, Madrigales and ayres (London: W. Stansby, 1632). STC 20124.5
1Love in thy youth, fair maid; be wise,
2 Old Time will make thee colder,
3And though each morning new arise
4 Yet we each day grow older.
5Thou as heaven art fair and young,
6 Thine eyes like twin stars shining:
7But ere another day be sprung,
8 All these will be declining.
9Then winter comes with all his fears
10 And all thy sweets shall borrow;
11Too late then wilt thou shower thy tears,
12 And I too late shall sorrow.
