The Frosted Pane
The Frosted Pane
Original Text
Selected Poems of Sir Charles G. D. Roberts (Toronto: Ryerson, 1936): 154. PS 8485 O22A17 Robarts Library.
1One night came Winter noiselessly, and leaned
2 Against my window-pane.
3In the deep stillness of his heart convened
4 The ghosts of all his slain.
5Leaves, and ephemera, and stars of earth,
6 And fugitives of grass, --
7White spirits loosed from bonds of mortal birth,
8 He drew them on the glass.
