Astrophel and Stella: 60

Astrophel and Stella: 60

Original Text
The Countesse of Pembrokes Arcadia written by Sir Philip Sidney, Knight. Now the third time published with sundry new additions of the same author. Edinburgh: Printed by Robert Walde-graue, 1599. STC 22542.
1When my good Angell guides me to the place,
2Where all my good I doe in Stella see,
3That heau'n of joyes throwes onely downe on me
4Thundred disdaines and lightnings of disgrace:
5But when the ruggedest step of Fortunes race
6Makes me fall from her sight, then sweetly she
7With words, wheerein the Muses treasures be,
8Shewes loue and pitie to my absent case.
9Now I wit beaten long by hardest Fate,
11The ground of this fierce Loue and louely hate:
12Then some good bodie tell me how I do,
13Whose presence, absence, absence presence is;
14Blist in my curse, and cursed in my blisse.
