To Anthea
To Anthea
Original Text
A. J. M. Smith, The Complete Poems, ed. Brian Trehearne (London, Ontario: Canadian Poetry Press, 2007): 33.
1When I no more shall feel the sun,
2 Nor taste the salt brine on my lips;
3 When one to me are stinging whips
4And rose leaves falling one by one;
5I shall forget your little ears
6 And your crisp hair and violet eyes;
7 And all your kisses and your lies
8Will be as futile as your tears.
