WAITING FOR HER HUSBAND

Original Text:

300 Gems of Classical Chinese Poetry, trans. Xu Yuanchong (the Chinese-English Edition with Chinese Phonetic Symbols; Beijing: Peking University Press, 2004): 258-59.

1Waiting for him alone
2   Where the river goes by,
3She turns into a stone
4   Gazing with longing eye.
5Atop the hill from day to day come wind and rain;
6The stone should speak to see her husband come again.
