The Silver Swan, Who Living Had No Note

Original Text:
Orlando Gibbons, The first set of madrigals and mottets of 5 parts (London: T. Snodham, 1612). STC 11826
1  The silver swan, who living had no note.
2When death approach'd, unlock'd her silent throat;
3Leaning her breast against the reedy shore,
4Thus sung her first and last, and sung no more.
5Farewell, all joys; O Death, come close mine eyes;
6More geese than swans now live, more fools than wise.
