rebecca begins to worry about time

Original Text:
  • Shannon Bramer, suitcases and other poems (Toronto: Exile Editions, 1999): 43.
  • 1she uses liquid paper to white out all the lines
2on the calendar, wants one big day for herself.
3no more squatting squares, she thinks, no more
4cruel cubes of ice. she's dismantled the kitchen
5clock, made a necklace with its delicate parts.
6she's not sure what she'll do next: tear up her
7engagement book, cancel all of her appointments?
8time comes into her room like a large cat, when she must
9corner him, force an embrace. time
10is time because of the pain, because of the fine
    11claws digging in.
