rebecca begins to worry about time
she uses liquid paper to white out all the lines
on the calendar, wants one big day for herself.
no more squatting squares, she thinks, no more
cruel cubes of ice. she's dismantled the kitchen
clock, made a necklace with its delicate parts.
she's not sure what she'll do next: tear up her
engagement book, cancel all of her appointments?
time comes into her room like a large cat, when she must
corner him, force an embrace. time
is time because of the pain, because of the fine
claws digging in.
