A Coat

Original Text:

Yeats, William Butler. W. B. Yeats: Selected Poetry: 63. Ed. by A. Norman Jeffares. London: Macmillan, 1968.

1I made my song a coat
2Covered with embroideries
3Out of old mythologies
4From heel to throat;
5But the fools caught it,
6Wore it in the world’s eyes
7As though they’d wrought it.
8Song, let them take it
9For there’s more enterprise
10In walking naked.
