Richard Crashaw (1613-1649)

Two Went up into the Temple to Pray

1  Two went to pray? O rather say
2One went to brag, th' other to pray:

3  One stands up close and treads on high,
4Where th' other dares not send his eye.

5  One nearer to God's altar trod,
6The other to the altar's God.
