Live Blindly and upon the Hour


              1Live blindly and upon the hour. The Lord,
              2Who was the Future, died full long ago.
              3Knowledge which is the Past is folly. Go,
              4Poor child, and be not to thyself abhorred.
              5Around thine earth sun-wingèd winds do blow
              6And planets roll; a meteor draws his sword;
              7The rainbow breaks his seven-coloured chord
              8And the long strips of river-silver flow:
              9Awake! Give thyself to the lovely hours.
            10Drinking their lips, catch thou the dream in flight
            11About their fragile hairs' aërial gold.
            12Thou art divine, thou livest, -- as of old
            13Apollo springing naked to the light,
            14And all his island shivered into flowers.
