George Falle took his B.A. and M.A. from McGill University. His M.A. thesis, in 1937, was on the political fiction of Benjamin Disraeli. After obtaining his doctorate from the University of Wisconsin, he joined Trinity College at the University of Toronto in 1957 and taught there until 1981. He selected, edited, and annotated the minor Restoration and 18th-century poets for the seventh edition of Representative Poetry in 1963. In the following year, his textbook of three Restoration comedies came out from Macmillan in a series edited by Northrop Frye. A gentleman scholar, very well liked by all his colleagues, he died in 1983.
